scrap regretby ~neeka

Something else I have been working on for class...
I need to hold onto my realism xD it's earning me scholarships.

This is quite large, so I had to piece it together on photoshop...and a lot of things got cropped out :< so you're really not seeing the WHOLE picture...it's only missing a bit, though. : )

give me honest critique, please.

This piece is so amazing it boggles my mind. Your use of highlights and shading wiht only lines is so crazy cool I don't know what else to say besides that. And it sucks not having words for it. I wish my AP portfolio looked even a fraction as cool as yours did. I kind of headed in the same direction, but didn't even get close to getting something this cool out there. It's probably a good thing I didn't see your art until way after my portfolios were done or else I would've been very tempted to mimick your style and that would be crapy of me. I really hope you got a 5. If they didn't give you a 5 there is something seriously wrong in the world. I know art is all about stretching out into the world and finding something cool and new to do, but you should definately continue in this direction with color and lighting experiments. It would be a shame to never see something this cool again. :D

I'm not exactly sure what's going on, but it's extremely good. The details (her eyes, the folds of her outfit) really stand out. I wish I could see the whole thing.

so I love that giant needle and the salmon colored paper this is on... lovely pose and shading, especially on the face.. as for critique... poop, it's hard to think of critique for such amazing/intense images like this #_# I feel that the white lines that make her right sleeve folds seem to be kind of.. alone in the whole picture. There are some other individual lines like that, but not many, so maybe if there was a little more white shading by it (but not too much) it would be more unified with the rest of the piece?

But ohhh I also love that really dark patch of shadow. :B

This is absolutely wonderful!Critique:

The hair color is a bit odd but I suppose that's the lighting.Yet...why is there white in her roots? Is it just light shed on her scalp or meant to be there?I love the scar on her leg it's so telling but not at the same time. You seem to really truly understand human anatomy to be able to draw woth this kind of ease.I know this is in colored pencil but how in the worl did you blend it so beutifully from shadow to light?

Simply magnificent!~ace

I really like your use of purples and blues. I stick with the typical generic skin tones to shade in with colored pencils...but this has boosted my courage to try spicing things up.

I really love it when people ask for actual critiques on devART so I took the time to put your work in photoshop and rotate it around to see if I could see anything with a 180 rotation. Personally I think your anatomy is right on except for her ear. That might be how it looks in reality at that angle but something seems a bit off about it. Maybe it appears too far back? You might try shading more on the skin around it so it seems the face is rounding back quicker instead of slower. (Am I making any sense ><;) The hair could use a bit more detail...but not too much. Other than that I think it's lovely.

I absolutely love your style! I'm curious...what's the media? Looks like colored pencil or pastel but I'm not sure...
